Apparently, LLL is part of a trend.

As shown in an article in last week’s WSJ that highlights a growing movement of community-organized groups formed around the country aimed at helping the laid-off cope with the recession and get their careers back on track;.  Organizations mentioned by the article laid off law librarians might want to check out are:

  • LaidOff Camp; – includes resources, a wiki, a job board, and a list of upcoming events.
  • Out of Work Chicago – for Chicago jobseekers and includes news, resources, and networking events.
  • The 405 Club – for those unemployed in New York and offers a mix of advice, resources and ideas on how to stay busy while being unemployed.
  • Layoff Moveon – a website that allows the jobless to talk openly — and anonymously — and vent their anger and frustration, seek advice and even comfort other unemployed people.

If you have used any of these websites, I’d love to hear about your experience in the comments!
