The Associate Director for Public and Research Services is responsible for supervising and coordinating public service operations of the Robert S. Marx Law Library.
Responsibilities: As head of the department, the Associate Director supervises the reference and electronic services librarians and the head of access services. The position will provide direct liaison support to law school faculty and will provide service to patrons at the reference desk. Public and Research Services departmental responsibilities include reference, research and instruction support, training, circulation, collection development and maintenance, interlibrary loan, and document delivery. The Associate Director will teach in legal research classes.
Required: Experience: At least three years experience providing customer services in an academic or law firm law library, with preference for experience in an academic law library. At least two years experience supervising others. Previous experience teaching legal research classes. Education: J.D. or equivalent from an accredited ABA law school and M.L.S., M.L.I.S., or equivalent from an ALA-accredited school.
Preferred: Strong written and oral communication; familiarity with current technology used in law schools and legal practice; thorough knowledge of legal research; dynamic classroom teaching and presentation; ability to collaborate and work in teams.
