Job Title: Evening Services Librarian

Days and Hours: 37.5 hours per week.
Desired Hours: 2:30 P.M – 10:30 P.M. Tuesday – Thursday; 7:30 A.M. – 3:30 P.M. Friday; 10:00A.M – 6:00 P.M. Saturday

Summary: Oversee the operation of all library public service functions, including the supervision of student workers during evening and weekend hours. Monitor shelves and stacks maintenance, loose-leaf filing, and filing of microforms. Responsible for managing interlibrary loans, course reserves and exam database. Conduct evening reference.
Essential Functions:
- Participate in selection, training and supervision of part-time assistants assigned to circulation and collection maintenance; ensure adequate staffing and coverage; monitor substitute requests; monitor part-time assistants and patron interaction. Assign routine tasks such as photocopying, filing, re-shelving and shelf-reading to part- time student assistants; supervise their work to ensure accuracy.
- Provide direct reference assistance to patrons in person and on the phone answering both informational and more complex reference questions. Some teaching responsibilities are involved in this position. Cover some reference desk hours.
- Participate in collection development.
- Enforce library policies. Handle all problems that arise with patrons or our facility during evening and weekend hours. Open and close library.
- Handle interlibrary loan requests using OCLC First Search system to search for materials in other libraries. Fulfill requests from other libraries to borrow materials from our collection.
- Monitor and direct the physical maintenance of the law library’s stacks collection, open reserve area, and storage facility; create and monitor methods for re-shelving and shelf-reading the collection; conduct and oversee missing book searches and report final status to Head of Circulation for resolution; organize special projects such as book shifts.
- Assign loose-leaf filing to student workers. Solve filing problems and report missing pages to Serials Assistant for claiming.
- Process course reserve materials. Consult directly with faculty regarding their course reserve needs to ensure accuracy, completeness and retention period; manage addition, retention and withdrawal of course reserve materials. Replace missing course reserve materials.
- Provide students with access to copies of old final exams by making copies of the exams available online and in hard copy.
- Supervise filing and maintenance of microforms; work with the Documents / Microforms Librarian in space planning and microform shifts. Assist patrons in use of microforms and equipment.
- Compile statistics and data; prepare summary reports and lists, as assigned.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This job supervises student assistants.

Education and Experience: BA/BS and MLS or JD degree required. Experience in a service-oriented job, supervisory experience and some experience with either online systems, library procedures or legal materials preferred.
