The University of California, Irvine School of Law Library seeks an Associate Law Librarian for Technical Services.
Responsibilities: Responsible for initial development and overall administration of the Law Library’s Technical Services Department. Oversees daily operations of monographic and serials acquisitions, cataloging, processing and updating/superseding of library materials. Oversees expenditure of the collections budget. Takes primary responsibility for the logistics involved in acquiring, cataloging, processing and staging the Law Library’s initial acquisition of its core collection. Directly supervises key Technical Services staff and oversees the hiring, training, and performance evaluation of all Technical Services personnel. Performs cataloging and classification of resources in all formats received in the Library as needed.
Required: ALA-accredited MLS degree. Substantial experience with and knowledge of the acquisition, cataloging and processing of legal materials. Substantial experience with integrated library systems. Substantial experience and knowledge of MARC, AACR2R and LC classification and LCSH. Successful supervisory experience.
Preferred: ABA-accredited JD degree. Experience with Innovative Interfaces, Inc. integrated library system. Experience with OCLC catalog systems.
Salary and Benefits: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
