Message about new AALL Career Center from Hannah Phelps

As you may know, AALL is planning to launch a new and improved AALL Career Center on July 16. The new AALL Career Center will include many fantastic benefits for both employers and job seekers. The current job hotline does not offer any resume services, but the new career center changes all that! You can post your resume, have jobs that fit your criteria emailed to you, and apply for jobs through the AALL Career Center! During this transition period, I am pleased to inform you that we are offering advance resume posting to our members who have expressed interest in the placement office at the annual meeting. Post your resume at any time and it will appear in the Resume section when the site goes live on the 16th. The site will also be announced in the E-newsletter on the 16th, so we’re expecting a lot of traffic. This will be a great opportunity for you to get your resume online for employers to see! You can access the career center here.

Here are some of the great benefits you can take advantage of:
Job Search and Online Application

  • Gives job seekers a way to search and apply for positions online and manage their search by “saving jobs” for review later.
  • Job seekers can also e-mail positions to themselves or to a friend, giving the AALL Career Center additional exposure through viral marketing.

Resume Posting

  • Job seekers can upload a resume and make it available for employers to review, confidentially if they choose, giving the passive job seeker a way to make themselves available for new opportunities as they come up.

Document Manager

  • Job seekers can upload work samples, references, letters of recommendation or certification, cover letters etc. and make them available for employers to view.

Job Agents

  • Similar to resume agents, job seekers can create and save a set of job posting criteria for which they are looking and have results sent to their e-mail inbox on a regular basis.

Please email or call her with any questions or issues you may have.

  1. I’m a little confused. If you already registered your resume with AALL (you had the form up in a post a while back), is it now in their system already or do you have to upload it again?

  2. Never mind, found the answer to my own question.

  3. In case anyone else is wondering this, I will go ahead and answer my own question. This is a different registration process and a lengthier one and it’s NOT the same as registering the resume for the AALL Annual Meeting that we did a while back. Also, the career center goes live tomorrow.

    Thanks anyway, Christine. :)
