Knowledge Communities Professional, National Regulatory Research Institute, MD

Salary: $55,000 – $65,000

Silver Spring-based think tank is seeking an information categorization/content management specialist to help launch “knowledge community” for state regulators. We are looking for someone who has the force of personality to find out where value can be added, suggest change, and make change as it relates to equipping our communities with valuable content. This person will wear several hats – planner, negotiator, communicator, cataloger, researcher – but has a passion for understanding the needs of customers and finding ways to satisfy them. In sum, we need technical skills and experience in sourcing and cataloging information; personality type to engage key community members to find out how to help them.

Important Areas of Responsibility

  • Negotiates licenses and feeds communities with relevant content
  • Understands how clients consume information and makes decisions about “best of breed” content for each group of users
  • Ensures development of policies, procedures, and activities for collection service including acquiring, organizing, processing, and cataloging library and community knowledge resources
  • Serves critical needs in the organization as knowledge broker, information manager, people connector, collaborator, and strategic planner
  • Manages information lifecycle and access/distribution rights
  • Makes connections, connects the dots between knowledge needs, sources, and gaps
  • Leads change, is strong-willed and persistent in pursuing objectives
