Description: The Head of Research and Reference Services acts as a team coordinator for the day-to-day research and reference operations for all libraries within the circuit; identifies and provides research and instructional services for all judicial officers, law clerks and other library patrons; acts as a liaison with judges and court personnel for research services; serves on committees to represent the library and the circuit; develops, manages and markets library research services, subject guides, pathfinders, websites, and newsletters; designs promotional materials to enhance library services; works in coordination with the IT department to update, manage and maintain the library web page; designs, develops and delivers library orientations, trainings and chambers outreach programs. This position reports to the Circuit Librarian or Deputy Circuit Librarian.
Requirements: Masters Degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited institution; Juris Doctor highly preferred; at least three years of professional law library experience with supervisory responsibilities or three years of research and training experience in the legal field; expert online research skills (including Lexis, Westlaw and the Internet) and in-depth familiarity with both print and electronic resources; experience working with instructional technology, social networking applications, and web design and electronic publishing software; excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills, including ability to make presentations and conduct training sessions. Travel is required. Employment is contingent upon the satisfactory completion of a background check.
