Description: Library Associates Companies (LAC) seeks a Mid-level Research Analyst with a specialty in Economic Growth to provide research and information activities under contract at the USAID Library in Washington, DC. Must have experience doing in depth secondary research related to developing countries. The ideal candidate will have a Master’s degree in international affairs, international development or related field and have the ability to do statistical analysis. It would be highly desirable to be familiar with graphic representations/ images of statistical information and research results. Must be a US Citizen and have or be able to obtain Secret Clearance.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Conducting both traditional and online research, using online, USAID and external resources.
- Independently responding to research requests for secondary research from USAID program officers;
- Responses may include literature reviews, short descriptive papers, memos and spreadsheets.
- Contributing to in-depth reports and other research products as part of the research team.
- Providing content for Bureau and sector specific web pages in conjunction with Senior level research analysts.
- Developing effective relationships with other development partner organizations and technical experts.
- Other duties may include contributing to blogs and web pages, and working with Library staff using expertise to support collection development.
Qualifications
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must have or be able to obtain Secret Clearance.
- Masters degree in Economics or in another field related to international affairs, international development, business or public policy with a concentration in economics.
- 2-3 years of research experience related to Economic Growth in an area in which USAID works.
- Experience in and/or knowledge of developing countries.
- Excellent writing skills.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct online and traditional secondary research.
- Demonstrated understanding of and ability to work with international statistics and data, including experience with using this type of information in papers and reports.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and to organize and prioritize work.
- Ability to work cooperatively with others to achieve project goals.
- Knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite (including Excel) and Internet searching required.
- Experience with and ability to present information in graphs and charts a plus.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Access a plus.
