Christine Sellers

My name is Christine Sellers and I am a law librarian, now with some unexpected time on my hands. I was a Senior Research Librarian at Haynsworth Sinkler Boyd, P.A., in Columbia, SC, until April 15, 2009.  In an effort to provide something positive to the law librarian community out of this experience, I’ve created this blog. I hope it will serve to gather statistics, post jobs and advice, and provide a place to stay connected.

You may email me at clsellers@gmail.com.

  2. What a great idea! Good for you, Christine, for making lemonade out of lemons. Good luck with your blog!

  3. Great idea and blog! Just tweeted about it. Keep up the good work!

  4. This blog is an exceptional idea especially with job postings.

A thought comes to mind, that it might be helpful to share thoughts and ideas regarding the job application process,
for those who are trying to become “unleisurely.”

By example, for those applying for new positions and are in the first stages of interviewing, such as filling out applications; you should not list last job salary or the minimal sarary amount you will accept in the future. Make a business statement about yourself and list last salary as N/A and future salary as negotionable.

Most (actually all that I have seen) job forms are generic and really geared to secretarial staff. Do not cut yourself out by what you write on a form. Get a chance to get yourself in the door and sell yourself!

Two cents from a “seasoned” librarian who is trying to not become cranky about recent developments in our profession.

  5. I too joined the club as of this past Monday from a firm in Virginia unfortunately. I’m happy to have found this blog. Good for you creating this resource! Thanks.

  6. Great site! A refreshing does of lemonade in a time of abundant lemons. Keep up the good work and best of luck. I will be featuring it in a Tweet and Blog-posting from iBraryGuy.com.

  7. Christine —
I truly admire your work. Although I am not myself a law librarian, I personally know just how very valuable, and critically important, professional librarians and sound library skills are for law school professors, lawyers, law students, Judges, law clerks, and many others. Great Blog! Good luck.

  8. Nice hair (much longer than last I knew). A friend of mine was just laid off today and I remembered the gig at H &H; I googled it to send him a link and lo! here’s Christine from back in the day blogging.

I hope you’re doing okay with the leisure.

    All my best,

    - Shannon
